PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS DETAILS AND SCHEDULES
Save time and energy! Fast track your career!! Develop a professional makeup portfolio that will open doors for you into the editorial world, in a very short amount of time. It can take a makeup artist a couple of years to create an outstanding, professional looking portfolio. Creating concepts to shoot, then looking for photographers, stylists, professional models and photo studios to rent, is time consuming and can be frustrating, especially if you are working at a “day job”. Makeup artists who want to work in the fashion and editorial mediums need a book that is representative of magazine quality work. The Law of Nature, or reality in this particular part of the industry, is that your book must reflect both professionalism and excellence in makeup and hair artistry, choice of models, as well as clothing styling and photography. The agencies representing editorial artists look to represent the cream of the crop. Start by building a book shot by a reputable fashion photographer, using professional models shot in a variety of settings and poses. Your work should resemble an editorial style; a theme that tells a story. Therefore, this workshop will give you the opportunity to create 3 different makeup and hair looks on one model, in 3 different styles of clothing. The model will be shot from a variety of distances, from face (beauty shot) to full body, giving your book the edge that agents are looking for. The model, photographer and the clothing will be provided for you. Clothing and shoot concepts will vary depending on the season/current trends. You will have the assistance of a professional makeup artist and stylist on set to give you guidance and tips. One print per shoot will be included. You can purchase additional prints (cost will vary depending on post production requirements).
Makeup is not provided. Bring your own professional hair and makeup kit. Enrolment is limited to 5 artists. You must have makeup experience or training in photographic makeup application and editorial hair styling in order to register.
Cost: $790 (plus GST) There are 5 time slots to choose from: 9am-1:30pm/ 9:30am-2pm/ 12pm-4:30pm/ 3:30pm-8pm/ 4pm-8:30pm. If you exceed the 4.5 hour time limit, you will have to pay an additional fee. This class is limited to 5 artists.

Build your portfolio with these period inspired photo shoots. Design and apply a modern, editorial makeup inspired by the period. A professional makeup artist and stylist will be on hand to provide assistance as needed. You are also responsible for styling the hair. A professional model will be provided for you. You will also be provided with one outfit for your model. You will have 2 hours to do hair and makeup, consult with the stylist and get your model dressed. A fashion photographer will then photograph your model and provide you with a retouched print of your choice. You can purchase more prints if you’d like at an additional cost.
Makeup is not provided. You must bring a professional hair and makeup kit to class.

Cost: $450 each (plus GST). There are 14 different time slots, each 2.5 hours in duration. The first slot begins at 9am. Next slots begin at the following times: 9:30am/ 10am/ 10:30am/ 11:00 am/ 11:30am/ 12pm/ 1:30pm/ 2pm/ 2:30pm/ 3pm/ 3:30pm/ 4pm/ 4:30pm. If you exceed your 2.5 hour time limit, you will have to pay an additional fee.

Create, apply and shoot the makeup of your choice with a pro model and fashion photographer. Expand your book and explore your creativity! These will be beauty shots focusing on the face and upper body only. You will have 2 hours to prepare your model’s hair and makeup and to style your model, followed by a photo shoot. You are responsible for accessories and tops. It is recommended that you bring a few tube tops in different colours. You will receive one retouched print of your choice but can purchase more prints at an additional cost. You must bring a professional makeup and hair kit to class. This class is limited to 14 artists.
Cost: $275 (plus GST) There are 14 time slots each 2.5 hours long, beginning at 9am. The next slots are as follows: 9:30am/ 10am/ 10:30am/ 11am/ 11:30am/ 12pm/ 1:30pm/ 2pm/ 2:30pm/ 3pm/ 3:30pm/ 4pm/ 4:30pm. If you exceed your 2.5 hour time limit, you will have to pay an additional fee.
The prerequisite is "Comprehensive Makeup & Hair Design" or the equivalent in training. You must have a professional makeup & hair kit to enrol in these workshops.
